Pak Army vows to ‘retaliate’ against US ‘hot pursuit’ within border in future
October 8th, 2010 - 1:38 pm ICT by ANIIslamabad, Oct 8 (ANI): In a corps commanders meeting, the Pakistani military leadership has vowed to take retaliatory action in the event of any incident of territorial violation in future.
The cross-border strikes’ issue came for discussion during the 134th Corps Commanders’ Conference, which was chaired by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani, and held at the General Headquarters, The Nation reported.
The forum was given a comprehensive briefing on the security situation, recent border firing incidents and all aspects relating to it. The participants expressed satisfaction over the operational preparedness of the Army.
According to military sources, the top brass reiterated its determination that Pakistan had the capability to deal with the militants inside its borders, and any attempt at hot pursuit by foreign forces would not be acceptable.
The military leadership said that retaliatory action would be taken if Pakistani borders were violated in future, added the sources.
Taking the participants into confidence on important matters related to national and internal security, the Army Chief told them about the contacts with NATO commanders and US Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee in connection with the border violations, and letters and assurances held out by them.
