Pak Army exercising restraint during Buner operation: ISPRApril 30th, 2009 - 7:55 pm ICT by ANI
Islamabad, Apr.30 (ANI): Major General. Athar Abbas, the Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), on Thursday said security forces were exercising utmost restraint during the military operation in Buner as the militants were using civilians as human shields.
Abbas said security forces continue to face resistance from extremists who have taken up positions in the mountains of the district.
He said the troops have taken full control of Daggar, the administrative capital of Buner district and were defusing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) in the region.
Abbas said it could take another week to complete the military operation in Buner.
Meanwhile, normalcy is returning to the Lower Dir area and curfew was relaxed between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m., he said.
He also said that the Swat peace agreement is still intact. (ANI)
