Outcome of US Prez poll will have no bearing on Pak, claims envoyOctober 28th, 2008 - 2:11 pm ICT by ANI
Washington, Oct 28 (ANI): Pakistani Ambassador to the US Hussain Haqqani has said that the outcome of the US presidential election will have no effect on Pakistan, as he claimed that whoever wins the election would have a different stance (regarding Islamabad) in line with international situation.
He said that relations between Pakistan and the US would rather depend on steps taken by the political leadership of both countries.
The stance of the US presidential candidates would be different after the election, as whoever won would make policies in line with the international situation, he said.
The envoy said that relations among nations depended on common interests, and relations between Pakistan and the US would improve when both agreed on basic points. We can yield positive results through dialogue … ups and downs among nations are a common thing, he added.
He also said that the war-on-terror is Pakistan s own war, as the Taliban were attacking countrys cities, girls schools in Swat and jirgas in the tribal Areas. Therefore, it could not be called America s war, the Daily Times quoted him as saying in a TV interview. (ANI)
