No talks before Pakistan punishes 26/11 terrorists: Manmohan

Washington, April 14 (IANS) India’s Prime Minister Manmohan Singh Tuesday asked Pakistan to do at least “the minimum” of punishing all those involved in the Mumbai terror attacks before India can think of resuming talks.
“Pakistan must take credible steps to bring the perpetrators of the horrible crime of 26/11. That’s the minimum we expect Pakistan to do,” Manmohan Singh told journalists at the end of his four-day visit to the US.
If Pakistan does that, we will be happy to begin talking about other issues, said Manmohan Singh.
Manmohan Singh said he ran into his Pakistani counterpart Yousaf Raza Gilani twice here on the sidelines of the Nuclear Security Summit, but clarified that there was no serious discussion.
“We ran into each other twice during the summit. I complimented the prime minister on the passage of the recent constitutional amendment which makes the prime minister a more political personality in Pakistan,” he said. “But there was no serious discussion.”
Manmohan Singh was evasive when asked about the possibility of a bilateral meeting with Gilani on the sidelines of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit in the Bhutanese capital Thimphu April 28-29.
“Still there is time to think about the meeting in Bhutan. We’ll cross the bridge when we come to it,” was all Manmohan Singh would say.
