June 25th, 2011 - 3:47 pm ICT by IANSKarachi, June 25 (IANS) No one died or was injured in a blast near a government registration office in Pakistan’s port city of Karachi Saturday, police said.
The blast took place around 11.30 a.m. near the office of the National Accountability and Database Registration Authority (NADRA) in Bahadurabad area, Xinhua reported.
Police said the estimated five-kg bomb was planted somewhere between the NADRA office and the nearby Pakistan Red Crescent office.
The explosive was a “home-made” one, police told Geo News.
A bomb disposal squad was searching for other possible bombs planted nearby.
The explosion managed to create panic among the people, but there was no loss of life, police said.
Deputy Inspector General of Police Tahir Naveed said there was a “moderate explosion” of the detonator but the bomb itself could not explode and was defused.
