No danger to democracy in Pakistan: Gilani

Islamabad, July 6 (IANS) There is no danger to democracy in Pakistan, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani says.
“There is no danger to democracy. Democracy will continue…there is no alternative (to) democracy,” Gilani told mediapersons here.
To a question on Muttahida Quami Movement’s decision to part ways with the Pakistan Peoples Party-led government, Gilani said the party was in continuous contact with the MQM leadership.
“They (MQM) are still our coalition partners…,” Associated Press of Pakistan quoted Gilani as saying.
The prime minister said since the creation of Pakistan, every political government including that of Zulfikar Ali Bhutto were dislodged on the pretext of corruption but there were no charges of corruption against dictators.
Pakistan has been ruled by a string of military dictators since its independence in 1947, the last of whom was Pervez Musharraf who ruled for nine years after seizing power in a bloodless coup in 1999.
