Yousuf Raza Gilani Islamabad, Dec 27 (IANS) Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Tuesday denied a possibility of clash among the state institutions in Pakistan if they all worked within the ambit of the constitution.

Parliament is supreme and will take decisions on all issues of national importance, said Gilani during a brief interaction with reporters as he visited former prime minister Benazir Bhutto’s mausoleum, APP reported.

The supremacy of parliament would be ensured, he added.

Asked if any conspiracy was being hatched against the government, Gilani said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) was not an ordinary party and it was strong enough to confront any conspiracy.

Gilani said he had already dispelled the notion that General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani and Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) chief General Shuja Pasha might be dismissed.

The country witnessed heightened tension between the government and the army after Gilani Thursday said, “Nobody can say that he is not under the government.” He added that conspiracies were being hatched to “pack up an elected government”.

Replying to a question about investigations into Benazir Bhutto’s assassination, the Pakistan prime minister said he was not in a position to make any remark on it as the matter was sub judice.

Bhutto was assassinated Dec 27, 2007, after a Pakistan Peoples Party rally in Rawalpindi, just two weeks before the scheduled parliamentary elections of 2008.
