Nine killed, 30 injured in suicide bomb attack on police van in northwest Pak

Hangu, Mar 3(ANI): At least nine people, including three police officials, were killed and thirty others were wounded in a suicide bomb attack on a police van in the northwest Pakistan town of Hangu on Thursday.

The suicide bomber blew himself up when the police patrol van approached his car on a by-pass road in Hangu, reportedly for a security check.

District Police Officer (DPO) Hangu Abdul Rasheed confirmed that three police officials were martyred, adding that law enforcement agencies had cordoned off the area.

“We’ll chase these terrorists soon,” Samaa TV quoted Rasheed, as saying.

The wounded people and dead bodies have been shifted to the District Headquarters hospital. Women and children are among the injured.

District Coordination Officer (DCO) Hangu Adil Siddiqui said that at least 15 houses were damaged in the bomb attack.

Several people are under the debris and rescue teams have begun efforts to save them. (ANI)
