Lahore, Dec 10 (ANI): A day after the All Parties Democratic Movement (APDM) failed to achieve a consensus on boycotting the January 8 general elections, a new faction of the conglomerate was formed without Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) and Awami National Party (ANP).
Mehmood Khan Achakzai has been named as the convener of the new APDM. This was announced at a press conference here today where Pakistan Tehreek-I-Insaaf chief Imran Khan and Jamaat-e-Islami chief Qazi Hussian Ahmed were present.
Both PML (N) and ANP were opposed to the idea of boycotting the polls.
Meanwhile, an election tribunal has cleared the way for Pakistan Peoples Party chairperson Benazir Bhutto to contest the January.
The tribunal dismissed a petition to bar her contesting, The News reported. (ANI)
