Nepalese parliament to vote fifth time for post of PM
August 23rd, 2010 - 5:42 pm ICT by ANIKathmandu, Aug 23 (ANI): Nepalese parliament will vote for a fifth time on Monday for the post of the Prime Minister.
The election on Monday is not likely to yield any results with all major political parties sticking to their stance.
Unified Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) chairman Prachanda and Nepali Congress vice president Ram Chandra Paudel are contesting the election, Xinhua reports.
The third largest party in the parliament Communist Party Nepal- Unified Marxist Leninist, which has a critical role in deciding who becomes the Prime Minister, has decided to stay neutral in Monday’s election, too.
The United Democratic Madhesi Front, an alliance of four Madhes-based parties with a strong presence in the parliament, has not decided yet whether to stay neutral or vote for a candidate.
According to the Interim Constitution of Nepal 2007, a candidate must get 301 votes in the 601-seat parliament to win the election. (ANI)
