Kathmandu, Mar 12 (ANI): The Nepalese Election Commission (EC) on Wednesday asked the Girija Prasad Koirala Government to check crime and confiscate illegally possessed arms.

The EC also directed the Home Ministry to effectively control unauthorised movement of people from across the border so the April 10 election could take place in a fearless manner.

The EC’s three-point directive to the government comes at a time when armed Terai groups including the two factions of Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) and Madhesi Mukti Tigers (MMT), which are believed to have been operating from bordering Indian states, have vowed to disrupt the polls.

Meanwhile, the EC officials held separate interactions with representatives of the organisations of civil servants and teachers, seeking their cooperation in the election process.

During the interaction held at the EC office, Chief Election Commissioner Bhoj Raj Pokharel urged the civil servants and teachers deployed for election purposes to maintain impartiality while carrying out their duties, reported. (ANI)
