Nepal government staff to begin Mt. Everest expedition
April 6th, 2011 - 4:55 pm ICT by ANIKathmandu, Apr. 6 (ANI): A team of 15 Nepali government employees is all set to start an expedition to scale Mt. Everest on Thursday.
According to a Xinhua news agency report, the expedition is being undertaken with the aim of gathering information on mountaineering and impact of climate change in the Himalayan region as well as encouraging civil servants for adventure.
The government has allocated 30 million Nepali rupees (about 423,000 dollars) for the campaign.
The team is scheduled to climb Iceland Peak before heading for the highest peak. (ANI)
