Nearly 40 dead in Afghan violence

Kabul, Aug 9 (IANS) Three NATO soldiers and 36 Taliban militants were killed in Afghan violence, Xinhua reported Thursday.
The NATO soldiers were killed in a militant attack in eastern Afghanistan Thursday, while the militants were killed during operations carried out by Afghan security forces and NATO troops Wednesday.
A huge cache of arms and explosives, five motorcycles, two vehicles and 3,480 kg of opium were seized during the anti-insurgency operation.
