Islamabad, Jan. 4 (ANI): PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif has been approached thrice by the Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari for a summit meeting but Sharif turned down all the invitations on the pretext of them being mere photo sessions in the Presidency.
A PML-N leader said that his partys top leadership did not want any more photo sessions, and any future meeting between the top leaders of the two major parties would only take place when PPP fulfils the promises it made to the nation. That includes repealing the 17th Amendment strictly in accordance with the Charter of Democracy.
In last five days, the Presidency has sent three different messages to the PML-N leader through different channels, both political and non-political, The News reports.
The PML-N sources said that an invitation to the PML leader was conveyed by an adviser of Punjab Chief Minster, who conveyed that an immediate meeting should be arranged between President Zardari and Nawaz Sharif.
Another message came on Tuesday night when a top town developer, having excellent relations with the top PPP leadership, called up Sharif.
The developer conveyed Zardaris message that the president wanted an immediate meeting in the developing scenario and a worsening situation, and wanted to talk on every issue with Sharif.
But Sharif expressed his dissatisfaction over the promises the government made on 7th of August, and also asked, what was the need now for more meetings for negotiating the same issues?
However, the messenger tried to reassure the PML-N chief that now the promises would be fulfilled. (ANI)
