Nawaz Sharif placed under house arrest in Lahore

Lahore, Mar.15 (ANI): Former Pakistan Prime Minister and Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif was placed under house arrest at his Model Town residence on Sunday.
Restrictions on Sharifs movement in and around the country were imposed a day before a planned Long March by politicians and lawyers into Islamabad from various parts of the country.
The Pakistan capital was under a state of high alert ahead of the march, and the government has asked the Army to remain on stand by.
Security forces have also imposed similar restrictions on sacked Punjab Chief Minister,Shahbaz Sharif, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan and Jamaat-e- Islami (JeI) leader Qazi Hussain Ahmad earlier.
According to sources, several protestors have been taken into custody in continous raids by the police.
PML-N leaders, however, have denied reports of Nawaz Sharifs house arrest.
The Government has given similar house arrest orders for Atizaz Ahsan, Hamza Shahbaz, Zulfiqar Khosa, Ahsan Iqbal and Khawaja Saad Rafiq, The News reports. (ANI)
