NAVSIS-08 to be held in OctoberSeptember 17th, 2008 - 8:06 pm ICT by ANI
New Delhi, Sept.17 (ANI): The Indian Navy aims to leverage the power of Information Technology (IT) and achieve net-centricity through collaborative integration of naval entities and their information assets with a strategic partnership with industry.
Saying this Vice Admiral B S Randhawa, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, Chief of Materiel, Integrated Headquarters of MoD (Navy), announced that a Naval Symposium on Information Systems (NAVSIS-08) will be held in New Delhi on October 6 and 7 to further interaction with industry in this regard.
He was speaking at a session organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here today. It is expected that the National and International industry would participate in a big way in the NAVSIS-08.
NAVSIS-08 will deliberate on issues such as Next Generation Networks, Network-Centric Operations, Open Source Systems and SaaS, Identity Management, Access Control and Surveillance, Trends in IT Training, Green Computing, Public Domain for private use, ERP, Enterprise Information Security Management and Encryption/PKI and Steganography.
Vice Admiral Randhawa said that the IT revolution has brought about changes in the way we work, manage our affairs and make decisions. He said the Indian Navy is looking forward to partner with the industry in the field of operations and data management to to enhance its efficiency.
Ashok Kanodia, Chairman, CII Defence Sub Committee on IT and Communication, assured the Vice-Admiral of industrys contribution in the field of operations and data management while saying that information has emerged as the 5th dimension in todays world.
A brochure on NAVSIS-08 was released by Vice-Admiral Randhawa at the end of the session. (ANI)
