National interest priority in India-Pakistan trade: Gilani

Islamabad, Nov 5 (IANS) National interest would be accorded priority in Pakistan’s trade dialogue with India, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani said while referring to the granting of Most Favoured Nation status to India.
Pakistan Wednesday decided to grant India MFN status.
Gilani told reporters in Lahore Friday that national interest would be priority in the trade dialogue with India.
He said the proposal to grant MFN status in trade to India was endorsed by the federal cabinet, reported Associated Press of Pakistan.
To a query, Gilani said patience and tolerance were vital elements of a stable democracy and political parties must respect people’s sentiments vis-a-vis mandate of other political parties.
“Protest rallies are no threat to the democratic system in the country and the detractors may do their heart’s bidding,” he said.
There had been a massive turnout at the Oct 30 rally addressed by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan in Lahore.
The prime minister said gathering of a large number of people in the rally was a reflection of people’s disappointment in the Punjab government’s policies.
He described Imran Khan as a novice in politics.
