Narcotic smuggler killed along India-Pakistan border
March 9th, 2011 - 10:30 am ICT by IANSJammu, March 9 (IANS) The Border Security Force (BSF) has killed a narcotic smuggler along the international border with Pakistan in Ranbir Singh Pora, an official said here Wednesday.
Two narcotic smugglers tried to sneak into Indian territory by taking a river route Tuesday night. They were challenged by the BSF troopers. The smugglers tried to escape but one was killed in the firing by the troopers, BSF sources said.
“One AK-magazine and five packets of drugs have been recovered from the slain smuggler,” a BSF official told IANS.
No weapons were found with the slain smuggler, the official said.
“It seems that the smugglers from across the border are now taking river routes instead of land to avoid detection. But we are keeping a watch all along the border,” he said.
India has a 198 km long international border with Pakistan in Jammu region.
