Naghmi plans to file defamation suit against PCB chief
February 11th, 2009 - 1:28 pm ICT by ANI Lahore, Feb. 11 (ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Boards former COO Shafqat Naghmi has said he will file a defamation suit against PCB chairman Ijaz Butt for accusing him of financial mismanagement.
I will claim a public apology from them and one rupee in damages to show these people what I think they are worth, Naghmi was quoted by The News, as saying.
Naghmi has decided to file the defamation suit against Butt and senior PCB officials later this week.
Naghmi appeared before the Senate Standing Committee on Sports to respond to allegations of financial mismanagement and misuse of power leveled against him by Butt and other PCB officials.
This board does not deserve to remain in power. They dont know what they are doing. The defamation suit is meant to expose them before the public, Naghmi said.
Naghmi also said that the false allegations leveled against him were so serious in nature that he could have claimed millions of rupees in damages.
But I will claim one rupee damage just to make the point what I think about these people, he said. (ANI)
