Islamabad, Jan 2 (IANS) A retired Pakistani Army officer who was a close aide of former president Pervez Musharraf has been missing from Lahore under mysterious circumstances, a media report said Sunday.Lt. Col. Manzoor Ahmad, who served as Musharraf’s staff officer and also as additional director of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA), disappeared under mysterious circumstances from Lahore, The Express Tribune reported.
Senior police officer Maroof Wahla said that a case has been registered against unidentified abductors. He said they have been investigating the matter with the help of the Crime Investigation Agency but have not found any leads so far.
Ahmad, who retired two ago, was reportedly on his way from the DHA security office to the DHA head office to meet one Colonel Ashraf. When his wife tried to contact him at around 2 p.m. Friday, she found that all three numbers belonging to him were switched off.
She initially informed Col. Jameel, a DHA official, about his disappearance and later informed the police.
Ahmad earlier informed the DHA security that he was being chased by a suspicious car, his wife said, accusing the DHA of not providing him security guards.
Ahmad’s wife told the daily that she was not satisfied by the police’s investigation as they still had not been able to figure out the place of his abduction, even though she requested them to watch the footage of CCTV cameras placed all around the DHA.
The DHA security head, Ahtasham, also confirmed that Ahmad informed him of being chased by suspicious people. He said Ahmad refused to get security guards.
The security director said he had told Ahmad to inform DHA authorities whenever he was followed and they would then investigate the matter themselves.
