Lahore, Jan. 13 (ANI): Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has said that Baloch leader Akbar Bugti’s death was caused as a result of his clash with the writ of the state.
The Daily Times quoted Musharraf as saying that Akbar Bugti and his henchmen challenged the writ of the state and later took refuge in a cave.
He added that a four-member delegation of the army went into the cave to ask Bugti and his followers to lay down their arms.
“It seems the cave collapsed which resulted in the death of Bugti and the four soldiers”, he said.
Musharraf said neither he nor the chief of the army staff could give direct orders to the army and other law enforcement agencies, and hence, the allegations against him were baseless.
Meanwhile, Jamhoori Watan Party Senator Shahid Bugti has urged the government to approach the Interpol for the repatriation of Musharraf from abroad.
He also criticised Pakistan Interior Minister Rehman Malik’s demand to set-up an inquiry commission, saying that the trial of Pervez Musharraf was being ignored because of a deal struck between the government and Musharraf in exchange for concessions under the NRO. (ANI)
