Karachi, Jan 14 (ANI): Pakistan President Musharraf has said that the caretaker Government of the country was in control of conducting free, fair and transparent elections, and all reports regarding a change in the election date are baseless.

While addressing the Sindh cabinet, Musharraf said that the polls would be conducted peacefully, adding that no persons or groups would be allowed to disrupt the electoral process.

Musharraf also said that maintaining law and order in Karachi was a key issue and such violence would not be allowed in future.

The general elections that were scheduled to hold on January 8 this year were postponed to February 18 following ex-premier Benazir Bhuttos assassination on December 27 last year. (ANI)
