Karachi, Dec 19 (ANI): Former premier Benazir Bhutto has said that inaction by the Musharraf regime has given rise to suicide bombings, which were taking a heavy toll of innocent lives in Punjab and the North West Frontier Province.
Addressing a public meeting at Gama Stadium in Mirpurkhas, Bhutto blamed the inept policies of the government for the deaths of innocent people in terror-related incidents.
Bhutto said she had been pressured by suicide bombing threats to not return to Pakistan, but had persevered because the masses supported her.
She also saluted the martyrs of the October 18 bombings who had protected “their sister” by sacrificing their lives.
Bhutto said that the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) had prospered under the army patronage and with its departure, the PML-Q had started to sink now.
She claimed that her party would change the destiny of the countrys oppressed people after coming into power.
Bhutto said owing to the PPPs struggle and the help of the masses, the military had been separated from the government, The News reported.
She said President Pervez Musharraf, during negotiations, had promised her that he would separate the military from the government, adding that another of the presidents promises would be fulfilled when the government holds free and fair elections on January 8. (ANI)
