Musharraf offered job in US

Washington, Feb 1 (ANI): Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf has been offered a job position of Scholar in Residence at the highly acclaimed Middle East Institute in Washington.
Musharraf has been on a visit to the US since early January where he met former US Vice President Dick Cheney.
The US State Department has indicated that Musharraf might have also met senior officials at Pentagon.
The Middle East Institute hosted a reception where Musharraf met recognized American scholars and experts.
Pakistan”’’s Ambassador to the US Husain Haqqani also accompanied the former President at the reception.
Besides, Ambassador Haqqani, Pakistan”’’s Ambassador at Large Riffat Mahmood, former US Assistant Secretary of State Richard Boucher, former State Department officials Robin Rafael and Daniel Markey, and scholars Steve Cohen and Marvin Weinbaum also attended the reception.
Institute head and former US ambassador to Pakistan Wendy Chamberlain urged Musharraf to be their next scholar-in-residence on Pakistan.
If Musharraf accepts the offer, the institute is willing to create a special Pakistan chair.
Sources close to Musharraf revealed that he is interested in the offer, as it will also give him time to write another book on his experiences as a country head. (ANI)
