Mumbai terrorist attacks accused seek open trial
May 23rd, 2010 - 1:56 pm ICT by ANIRawalpindi, May 23 (ANI): Lawyer of the accused arrested in connection with the Mumbai terrorist attacks has appealed to the court to conduct an open trial.
Currently, Anti Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Malik Muhammad Akram Awan has been conducting an in camera trial of seven accused including Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, the alleged mastermind of 2008 Mumbai terrorist attack, Hammad Amin Sadiq, Shahid Jamil Riaz, Younas Anjum, Jamil Ahmed, Mazhar Iqbal and Abdul Majid.
Counsel of the accused, Advocate Khawaja Sultan, appeared before the court and requested the judge for open trial of his clients.
However, the judge adjourned the hearing till June 5 for further proceedings, The Nation reports. (ANI)
