Mumbai probe gradually moving in right direction, needs more time: GilaniFebruary 5th, 2009 - 4:35 pm ICT by ANI
Islamabad, Feb.5 (ANI): While Pakistan may be ready with its reply to the Indian dossier on the Mumbai terror attacks, Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has made it clear that the probe into the Mumbai carnage is still being carried on, and more time is needed to arrive at a conclusion.
We are extremely serious in the investigation of the Mumbai terrorist attacks, and are gradually moving in the right direction, but we need time, The Daily Times quoted Gilani, as saying.
Commenting on Pakistans commitment to thwart terrorism from its soil he said: Pakistan has taken all necessary steps to counter the rising militancy in the tribal areas along the northern Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
Gilani said that the security forces would not hesitate to initiate an all out attack to flush out militants from its territory
We see terrorism as a challenge to our national development and agree on all means to root out militancy from the country, Gilani added.
Urging the United States to work together with Pakistan inorder to maintain peace and thwart terrorism from the region, Gilani asked Washington to share the investigation leads with it so that the worldwide menace of terrorism and insurgency in the tribal areas can be countered.
He also called upon the international community to support Pakistan as it is facing two major challenges in form of terrorism and economic slowdown.
Gilani also hoped that the change in US administration would further strengthen ties between both the countries. (ANI)
