Mirwaiz to met Pakistani foreign secretary in Delhi
February 22nd, 2010 - 11:33 pm ICT by IANSSrinagar, Feb 22 (IANS) Mirwaiz Umer Farooq, chairman of the moderate Hurriyat group, left for New Delhi Monday afternoon to meet the Pakistani foreign secretary ahead of the India-Pakistan secretary level talks scheduled on Thursday.
Mirwaiz Umer Farooq leads a delegation of his group comprising Professor Abdul Gani Bhat of the Muslim Conference, Moulvi Abbas Ansari of Ittehadul Muslimeen and Agha Syed Hassain of Anjuman-e-Sharie Shiyaan. They are all constituents of the moderate Hurriyat group.
The Mirwaiz-led Hurriyat said in a statement here the delegation would meet Pakistani Foreign Secretary Salman Bashir at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi before the secretary level talks start between India and Pakistan Feb 25.
The statement also said the Mirwaiz would apprise Bashir of the latest situation in Kashmir.
