Kathmandu, Dec 16 (ANI): CPN-Maoist has decided to bring nationalists and republican forces into an alliance by including political forces that are committed to nationality and republicanism for polarisation.
The Maoist Central Committee (CC) meeting held on Monday supported the proposal for the republican front tabled by Maoist Chairman and Prime Minister Prachanda.
Prachanda introduced the idea of forging an alliance of republican and nationalist forces at a time when the Nepali Congress (NC) President Girija Prasad Koirala is talking about the Broad Democratic Alliance.
Senior Maoist leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai said the polarisation is necessary to tackle with regressive forces.
“It is our older stance that we should form a broader front of likeminded forces. We felt the need for the same in the changed context,” he added.
According to party spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara, the meeting unanimously endorsed Prachanda’’s document, which has also incorporated some ideas from a document tabled by senior leader Mohan Baidya at the recently held national cadres meet.
“The party would spearhead, as per the proposal by Dr Bhattarai, a four-month long nationwide campaign from today. The campaign is aimed at enhancing the literacy rate, political awareness, peace-building and expansion of the cooperatives for economic development that would indirectly help implement programmes laid out in the annual budget.
Meanwhile, Maoist Central Committee (CC) meeting is underway at the party headquarters in Buddhanagar today.
The meeting will take decisions on the party’’s future strategy and work division within the party. The meeting would also form a mechanism to help coordinate between the government and the party and will also finalise the working procedures of the mechanism, Nepalnews reported. (ANI)
