Man accused of defaming Zardari online, hacking website sent to jail
April 16th, 2011 - 5:44 pm ICT by ANIIslamabad, April 16(ANI): A cyber crime case involving a man accused of publishing defamatory material against Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari and hacking a local website has been adjourned till May 11, and the accused has been sent to jail.
According to a Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) enquiry, a person with username “ADIL/Th3-penetrator” defaced the website ‘www.president-of-pakistan.com’ and uploaded material defaming Zardari and the country, the Daily Times reports.
Subsequently, a case was registered on prima facie evidence against the username” ADiL/Th3-penetrator” and the two Internet Protocols (IPs) used to hack the site.
The IPs were subscribed by Shahbaz Khan, a resident of Pindi Ghep, who was arrested, and the CPU, DSL Modem, and other equipment used in the crime were also seized.
During the probe, Khan owned up that ADIL/Th3-penetrator was his username and that he had logged in several times using it. According to the FIA, the accused claimed that the concerned website was hacked by some international hackers, who themselves uploaded obnoxious material and remarks on the site, and that he had only added some lines on the said website.
The FIA produced Khan with complete challan and informed the court that during the interrogation the accused had admitted that ADIL/Th3-penetrator was his username, using which he logged on to the internet several times. The agency also informed the court that the Islamabad High court had disposed a bail petition by the accused.
The Additional Sessions Judge hearing the case rejected the bail petition and adjourned the case till May 11. (ANI)
