Klang (Malaysia), June 30 (ANI): Malaysian Indian Congress youth wing chief S.A. Vigneswaran has resigned from the party with a threat to open a Pandora’s box on happenings within the party.

His decision to quit came after weeks of speculation on his position following a falling out with party chief S. Samy Vellu, NST Online reported.

Vigneswaran, once the blue-eyed boy of Samy Vellu, said the decision to resign came in light of efforts from the party leadership to force him to relinquish his Youth chief post.

He has asked other youth wing office- bearers and members not to resign but to fight for reforms from within.

On the other hand, with me being out of the party, I can now open the Pandoras box, Vigneswaran said.

He also announced that the MICs Briged Putera, which he started, would be disbanded. Only about 30 per cent of the movements 20,000 members are MIC members.

Based on events over the past few weeks, he said it was evident that he no longer had a strong political base in MIC to carry out his duties.

With the disappearance of that base, I now believe that an unconstitutional decision to remove me as Youth leader has been sealed. There is no longer a need for that process now, he said at a gathering here on Sunday.

Vigneswaran said he was not interested in fighting Samy Vellu and preferred to focus on the development of the Indian community.

He said that even after the MIC’s defeat in the general election, Samy Vellu announced that he would seek re-election for another term.

The misery MIC is reaping today is from what was sown yesterday and it will be so until it begins to sow today for a different tomorrow, he added. (ANI)
