Livid Pak senators demand public apology from ’slanderous’ Butt
June 8th, 2010 - 3:21 pm ICT by ANIIslamabad, June 8(ANI): Two members of the sub-committee of the Pakistan Senate Standing Committee on Sports are reportedly demanding for an unconditional apology in public by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ijaz Butt over allegations levelled against them.
Senator Haroon Khan and Senator Tariq Azeem have already moved a privilege motion against Butt on what they claim are unfounded allegations levelled against the Senate sub-committee by the PCB Chairman in public.
The motion has been handed over to the Senate committee headed by Tahir Mashhadi.
“I think nothing less than a public apology by the PCB Chairman would satisfy these senators. They are really upset on the allegations levelled against them and want the PCB Chairman to apologise in public,” The News quoted a source in the Senate Secretariat, as saying.
Meanwhile, the Senate Chairman Farooq H. Naek has invited the two senators and Butt for talks to patch up. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday.
“All the three involved have been invited by the Chairman Senate who wants an amicable solution to the controversy. The three would be asked to sit on table and make their position clear on the issue,” the source added. (ANI)
