Little Ayesha leaves hospital, can return to Pakistan
March 5th, 2010 - 11:47 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, March 5 (IANS) Ayesha Ahmed, the seven-year-old Pakistani girl from Karachi who underwent a heart bypass surgery here last week, has been discharged from the hospital, her doctor said Friday. She will, however, need to stay here for another month for check-ups.
“Ayesha is doing fine and she was discharged from the hospital Thursday. But she will have to stay in Kolkata for near about one month as she needs to have thorough check-up. After that, she can go back to Pakistan,” said Biswajit Bandopadhyay, the attending surgeon of Rabindranath Tagore International Institute of Cardiac Sciences (RTIICS).
Ayesha was admitted mid-February at the RTIICS here with an artery blockage and was operated on Feb 22.
The Rotary Club of Calcutta Metropolitan (RCCM) and the RTIICS have met all cost of the treatment and other expenses jointly.
“We are happy that we could provide Ayesha with new lease of life,” added Bandopadhyay.
Unable to get proper treatment in Karachi hospitals, Ayesha’s parents contacted their relatives in India after they came to know about the advanced cardiac treatments available here. Ayesha and her family reached the city last month.
