Lahore, April 27(ANI): The Lahore High Court has granted additional time to the Pakistan Government for filing a reply to a petition seeking directions to the Interior and Foreign Ministries to provide complete information on foreigners living in the Punjab province.

Advocate Noshab Khan filed the petition in the backdrop of the fatal shootout by CIA contractor Raymond Davis on January 27 in Lahore, in which two Pakistanis were killed.

The petitioner submitted that the scarcity of reliable information about US national Davis had caused immense hardship for the public at large, The Express Tribune reports.

He prayed that the Interior and Foreign Ministries be directed to supply necessary information to the Punjab Home Department about foreigners in the province, their duties and functions, their whereabouts, movements and designs.

The petitioner further prayed that the Punjab government be directed to take all necessary measures to safeguard the lives and property of citizens, especially from foreigners.

The Deputy Attorney General appeared before the court and sought time to file a reply on behalf of the federal government, following which the judge accepted the request and adjourned the hearing of the petition. (ANI)
