Lahore, July 13 (ANI): The Lahore High Court has quashed a petition filed by the son of the killed Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) official Khalid Khwaja against TV host Hamid Mir.
Usman Khalid, in his petition, had sought permission from the court to file a case against Mir, who has been accused of being involved in the ISI official’s murder.
The petition charged station house officer (SHO) of the Shalimar police station in Islamabad of refusing to register a case against Mir.
Khalid alleged that the noted television presenter had developed ideological differences with his father on the issue of the Lal Masjid operation in Islamabad, and had planned to eliminate him, The Dawn reports.
Mir, Executive Editor of Geo News, has been accused of provoking a militant group called Asian Tigers, which had claimed the responsibility for Khalid’s kidnapping and murder in April this year.
However, Mir has earlier rubbished reports that he had a telephonic conversation with a Taliban spokesperson Usman Punjabi, during which he described Khwaja as a Central Investigation Agency (CIA) collaborator.
Mir said that the audiotape, which contained his interaction with Usman, was forged.
He claimed that the leaked audiotape was an attempt to malign his image by his ‘enemies in the government.’
“I never said these things to these people. This is a concocted tape. They took my voice, sampled it and manufactured this conspiracy against me,” Mir had said earlier. (ANI)
