LCCI suspends sending trade delegations to India till resumption of bilateral talks
November 27th, 2009 - 1:38 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Lahore, Nov. 26 (ANI): Blaming India for tarnishing Pakistan’s international image, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has suspended the sending of all trade delegations to India till bilateral talks between the two countries resume.
During a meeting, which was chaired by LCCI President Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry, the authority claimed that New Delhi was trying to alienate Pakistan on the international business scene.
Chaudhry, during the meeting, which was convened in the backdrop of a report by the Indian Task Force on National Security and Terrorism, said that it was strange to find that the Task Force had hardly any person representing the business community.
“Pakistan’s business community believes India had used FICCI’s (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) label in the report to fulfil its ulterior motives,” delegates participating in the meeting opined.
They said that the report was part of a well-calculated plan to tarnish the image of Pakistan, besides derailing the confidence building measures (CBM) between the two countries, The Nation reports.
They said that Pakistan’s soft stance on the issue should not be taken as its weakness, and blamed India of disrupting regional peace and stability.
“The report is bound to create hostility and spell disaster of unimaginable magnitude between Pakistan and India. This is the height of irresponsibility and immatureness,” they added. (ANI)
