Lahore, Mar 10(ANI): The Lahore High Court has reserved its verdict in the dual office case against Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman and President Asif Ali Zardari.

A full bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) headed by Chief Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry conducted the hearing on Thursday, the Dawn reports.

Filed by lawyer A.K. Dogar, the petition stated that the Constitution required the president to maintain a neutral and non-partisan posture, being head of the state.

But Zardari, being the PPP co-chairperson, served party interests along with being the country’s president, which was in direct violation of the Constitution, it added.

The petitioner argued that holding two offices was a violation of Article 41 (1) of the Constitution, and requested the court to take appropriate action on the matter.

The court reserved its verdict on the petition after the arguments were completed, and adjourned the hearing for an indefinite period. (ANI)
