JUI-F hints at rejoining Pakistan People’s Party government
December 27th, 2010 - 6:57 pm ICT by ANIPeshawar, Dec 27(ANI): Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Fazlur Rehman has signalled that his party may rejoin the ruling Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government again if his demands were met.
Addressing a JUI convention in Peshawar, Rehman said that his party did not separate from the government due to JUI-F member and Science and Technology Minister Azam Swati’s dismissal.
“The government compelled the party to part ways,” the Daily Times quoted Rehman, as saying.
The JUI-F chief also claimed that the government did not honour its promises made with his party.
“We are not extremists. We have honoured all promises made with the government. It is the government, which deviated from the promises made with the party,” Rehman said.
“We have no lust for power, but I assure you that in the greater interest of the country, the JUI-F could review its decision to quit the government,” he added.
The JUI-F had left the coalition after Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani sacked Swati and Religious Affairs Minister Hamid Saeed Kazmi over a series of allegations regarding corruption in Hajj operations. (ANI)
