Its my responsibility to develop good relations with India: QureshiDecember 18th, 2008 - 1:15 pm ICT by ANI
Islamabad, Dec.18 (ANI): Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureishi has said that future of Pakistan demands good neighbourly relations with India, and that it was his responsibility to do so.
Taking the responsibility of building stronger ties between the two nations, Qureishi said that the Mumbai attack has hampered the neighbourly relation with India, but it will improve soon.
This unfortunate incident has been a setback, to the extent that our composite dialogue is at a pause at the moment but I am confident that we will overcome this hiccup. The future of Pakistan demands good neighbourly relations with India, so it’’s my responsibility to develop good bilateral relations, the Dawn quoted him as saying.
He expressed that both the nation have a common enemy: terrorism, and urged India to fight it together.
I feel we have a common objective. We have a common challenge. We have a common enemy. Let us join hands to defeat this enemy, Qureishi said.
Qureishi was talking to media after holding talks with his Swedish counterpart Carl Bildt.
Qureishi reiterated Paks offer of a joint investigation with India to probe the Mumbai attack.
“I offer joint investigation to build confidence and even prepared to visit India to lead a delegation to promote confidence building but waiting positive response from India,” he said.
Islamabad also asked India to release the evidences of the Mumbai attack probe via diplomatic channels instead of media.
“Pakistan needs detail evidence through diplomatic channels instead of media,” he said adding, evidences are being released by India through media only and Pakistan was not provided any proof officially.
Condemning the Mumbai attack, Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt, said: all incidents of terrorism should be condemned and perpetrators involved in them should be brought to justice.
The international community should co-operate closely and effectively to fight against terrorism, the News quoted Bildt as saying. (ANI)
