Islamabad, Nov.13 (ANI): Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif has asked Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani to take the issue of India’s alleged involvement in fanning insurgency in Balochistan the with the United Nations.
Addressing a press conference after discussing the proposed Balochistan package with Gilani, Sharif said he was informed during the meeting that Islamabad has evidence regarding New Delhi’s hand in the Baloch unrest.
“We were told in the meeting that it was confirmed that India was involved in Balochistan unrest. It is unfortunate that India is interfering in fomenting unrest in Pakistan,” The Nation quoted Sharif, as saying.
Sharif said he has advised Gilani to table the evidence regarding India’s terror policy with the international community, including the UN.
Commenting on the Balochistan issue, Sharif blamed former President General Pervez Musharaf for the current turbulent situation of the province and called for a public debate on the proposed Baloch package before tabling it in the National Assembly.
The former Prime Minister said it was important to take all stakeholders on board before taking any final decision.
“Take all Baloch nationalist parties into confidence over package, make it public for debate and then table it in parliament to build a national consensus, so that this package is acceptable to all,” Sharif said.
He said that cases against Baloch leaders should be withdrawn, and the killers of Baloch leaders, particularly of Nawab Akbar Bugti, must be brought to justice to pacify the people of the region.
Replying to a question about massive scale fraud in Gilgit-Baltistan elections, Sharif said the role of Election Commission in the election had been doubtful and added that his party would take action only after the results are announced. (ANI)
