Islamabad, April 21 (IANS) India’s Commerce Secretary Rahul Khullar leading a six-member delegation will arrive here April 26 to hold talks on trade related issues.
Khullar will hold talks with his Pakistani counterpart Zafar Mehmood.
“Commerce secretaries of both the countries will discuss trade related issues and give impetus to the Pakistan-India economic engagement,” sources told APP Wednesday.
Home secretaries of the two countries met last month, followed by a meeting between Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and his Indian counterpart Manmohan Singh at Mohali, India, during the Pakistan-India cricket World Cup semi-final match.
Sources said that Islamabad and New Delhi would try to settle outstanding issues, giving boost to cross-border trade.
Export of cement from Pakistan to India and import of cotton from India to Pakistan would feature in the discussions, besides development of trade infrastructure along the Wagah-Attari border checkpost, said sources.
Pakistan will be seeking from India relaxations on cotton export.
“All the contracts till October 2010 should be fulfilled on old agreed prices. However, for future cotton contracts be inked at prices commensurate with international prices,” a source added.
