Indian soldier killed in Pakistani shelling
November 8th, 2009 - 3:28 pm ICT by IANSJammu, Nov 8 (IANS) An Indian Army soldier was killed Sunday and two others were injured when mortar shells hit Poonch sector of Jammu and Kashmir from across the Line of Control (LoC), violating the ceasefire agreement, authorities said.
Heavy mortar shelling started from across the LoC at Poonch sector, about 240 km north of Jammu. The LoC divides Jammu and Kashmir between India and Pakistan.
A Junior Commissioned Officer died on the spot while two other soldiers were wounded, a spokesman of the Indian Army said.
The spokesman said this could be because of Pakistan’s attempts to push in terrorists into India.
