New Delhi, Jan 21 (IANS) India will remain “impatient” till Pakistan dismantles the terror infrastructure on its soil, Defence Minister A.K. Antony said Thursday adding that many terror attacks were foiled last year.
“After 26/11, last year you know there have been many attempts to create problems inside India. There have been attempts from various quarters. Luckily we were able to foil all their attempts,” Antony told reporters without elaboration.

“We know very well that there will be continuous attempts from our enemy to repeat what happened in the past. So far we have been lucky to prevent and defeat their attempts,” the defence minister added.

He was speaking after attending a function organised by the National Cadets Corps in the run up to Republic Day on Jan 26.

Speaking about terror outfits in Pakistan, Antony said: “Unless the government of Pakistan takes action against those involved in the heinous act of 26/11 and serious action is taken to dismantle terrorists’ outfits, the Indian people will always be impatient.

“The government and the people are not interested in any confrontation because we know we can change friends but we cannot change neighbours. Our wish is to be friendly with them. Unless Pakistan takes action, forward movement is difficult.”

Antony also asked Pakistan to take action against the perpetrators of the “heinous” Mumbai terror attack. He conveyed this to the visiting US Defence Secretary Robert M. Gates here Wednesday.

“I told him (Gates) - please advise Pakistan. They must act against those who were involved in 26/11. Almost all the terror outfits across the border are active,” said Antony.

“This month itself there have been half a dozen serious attempts to infiltrate into Kashmir. Our assessment is that terrorists and their masters know that the situation in Kashmir is improving, inside Kashmir violence is coming down. They do not like it, so they attempt to infiltrate,” Antony added.

After his meeting with Antony Wednesday, Gates had said: “India has responded with great restraint and statesmanship after the Mumbai terror attacks. But the ability to continue with it after another attack is under question… It is not reasonable to assume that Indian patience is unlimited in case of another attack.”
