“Improved’ Sino-India ties not a threat for Pakistan: Gilani
December 16th, 2010 - 12:51 pm ICT by ANIIslamabad, Dec 16(ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that there is no comparison between Pak-China ‘time-tested’ relations and the Sino-India bilateral ties.
When asked about the ongoing visit of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao to India, Gilani said: “We appreciate their improved ties”.
However, he made it clear that Pakistan and China enjoyed a deep-rooted, strategic and time-tested relationship, which could not be compared with China’s relations with any other country, including India, the Daily Times reports.
To a question about the prospect of China’s role in resolving the differences between Pakistan and India, Gilani said that Pakistan would welcome such a role.
“Islamabad itself desired good relations with all its neighbours, including India,” Gilani said.
The Prime Minister further said that the Pakistan government was looking forward to Jiabao’s visit from December 17 to 19.
Gilani stressed that it would further strengthen the strategic friendship between the two countries.
“China is Pakistan’s true and most reliable friend. Our relations are special as they are rooted in the ethos of the peoples of the two countries. Pakistan and China have always stood together at all times,” Gilani said. (ANI)
