Import of Indian movies should be restricted: Pak Senate CommitteeJanuary 23rd, 2008 - 2:49 pm ICT by admin
Islamabad, Jan 23 (ANI): The Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Culture, Senator Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry has said that the Government should take all stakeholders into confidence before taking a final decision on the import and exhibition of Indian films in Pakistan.
According to The News, the committee suggested that the import of movies should be done without harming Pakistans religious and cultural norms and values.
The committee said that Pakistani producers must try to win their share of the large Indian market, as it was fertile enough to accommodate good Pakistani Urdu and Punjabi movies.
The committee expressed dismay over cable operators openly telecasting Indian movies despite a complete ban on such movies since 1965. (ANI)
