I was offered such a post which would cause ’sleepless nights’ to some people: Ahsan
November 10th, 2009 - 2:42 pm ICT by ANILahore, Nov.10 (ANI): Former Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) president and senior Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Aitzaz Ahsan has disclosed that he was offered a top post in the Gilani government, however, he refused to divulge details about the offer, saying if he does so then it will ’cause sleepless nights to some people’.
Interacting with media persons at the Aiwan-e-Iqbal here, Ahsan said he has been associated with the PPP for a long time, so it was nothing wrong in accepting a government position.
Replying to a question, Ahsan said all those people who consider themselves well guarded under the National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), should get pre-arrest bail.
He reiterated that President Asif Ali Zardari enjoys a special immunity against court actions under the Article 248 of the Constitution.
Earlier, Ahsan had told media persons that no court could summon the President even if there were cases pending against him, as he enjoys special immunity under the Article 248.
Ahsan also ruled out any change in the country’s leadership saying there was ‘no vacancy’ at the President’s House. (ANI)
