Hu Jintao’s ‘landmark’ US visit to ‘revolutionize’ US-China ties
October 22nd, 2010 - 2:38 pm ICT by ANIBeijing, Oct 22 (ANI): Chinese President Hu Jintao will visit the United States early next year, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Ma Zhaoxu said at a regular news briefing on Thursday.
He said the Ministry had started preparations for Jintao’s visit, which the ministry said would be profound and far-reaching for bilateral ties.
“China and the United States have maintained close communications about the visit, which will be very important and will bring far-reaching influence for bilateral relations in new era,” Xinhua quoted Zhaoxu as saying.
Although Jintao ’s US visit had long been under discussion, it was the first time that China’s foreign ministry confirmed the visit and elaborated on its significance.
Zhaoxu said both China and the US would like to see a successful visit that will boost the positive, cooperative and comprehensive China-US relationship in the 21st century.
“We agreed that we will work together to achieve tangible results in anticipation of the visit of President Hu to Washington in January 2011,” Xinhua quoted US Attorney General Eric Holder as saying.
Chinese analysts expect Jintao’s US visit to help address the current issues and chart a path for the long-term bilateral ties.
The visit will be Jintao’s first state visit to the US since the Obama administration took office. His last state visit to the US was in April 2006. (ANI)
