Helicopter gunship attacks kill six militants in Pak’s Kurram region
March 6th, 2011 - 4:53 pm ICT by ANIKurram, Mar 6(ANI): Six militants were killed in helicopter gunship attacks in Pakistan’s northwestern tribal region of Kurram on Sunday.
Pakistani helicopter gunships attacked militant hideouts in Kurram, the Dawn quoted security officials in the region, as saying.
Two militant hideouts and a vehicle were also destroyed when the helicopters shelled the area.
Officials stated that a number of militants were also injured during the attack.
Just a day before, six militants were killed and several others were wounded as Pakistani security forces attacked terrorist hideouts in central Kurram’s Chanarak region and the surrounding areas.
The Pakistani military had earlier launched an operation in the tribal region and had managed to drive militants out of most areas in central Kurram.
However, militants continue to operate in areas surrounding central Kurram and in lower Kurram. (ANI)
