Growing India-US ties threat to Pak solidarity: Jamaat-e-Islami

Lahore, Nov 11(ANI): Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Syed Munawar Hasan has termed the growing India-US ties as a serious threat to Pakistan’s solidarity.
Addressing the concluding session of a two-day JI workshop, Hasan said that US President Barack Obama’s visit to India has proved that Washington was looking forward to strengthen its bilateral relations with New Delhi.
He further emphasized that the Obama administration’s “deeper roots” in the region would be dangerous for Pakistan.
Hasan also said that the Pakistan Foreign Office had made no plans to offset the expected damage of Obama’s India visit to India, and stressed that Islamabad had failed to counter the criticism against Pakistan during the visit, the News reports.
Earlier, Obama had said that the terrorists’ safe havens within Pakistan borders were unacceptable, asserting that the US will insist that terrorists behind 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks be brought to justice.
“We will continue to insist to Pakistan’s leaders that terrorist safe-havens within their borders are unacceptable, and that the terrorists behind the Mumbai attacks be brought to justice,” the US President had said while addressing a Joint Session of the Indian Parliament in New Delhi on Monday.
Obama further said the relationship between India and the United States was bound by shared values, adding that the two nations were partners in meeting the challenges.
“This is the bond we share. It’s why we insist that nothing ever justifies the slaughter of innocent men, women and children. It’s why we’re working together, more closely than ever, to prevent terrorist attacks and to deepen our cooperation even further. And it’s why, as strong and resilient societies, we refuse to live in fear, we will not sacrifice the values and rule of law that defines us, and we will never waver in the defense of our people,” he said.
