Government committed to minorities’ rights: Gilani

Islamabad, Dec 25 (IANS) Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani Sunday expressed his government’s commitment to ensure the rights of minorities as enshrined in Pakistan’s constitution.
Felicitating the Christian community on Christmas, Gilani reiterated his government’s commitment stating: “The Pakistan government regards the protection of rights of the minorities as its constitutional duty and is committed to their welfare.”
The Constitution of 1973 guarantees complete religious freedom, social justice, and equality of rights to the minorities, Gilani said in his message on this occasion, Associated Press of Pakistan reported.
