Islamabad, July 30(ANI): Pakistan Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that the issue of hostile statements made by British Prime Minister David Cameron would be taken up at a diplomatic level, and warned that such statements could adversely affect the war against terrorism.

“Such statements could affect the war against terrorism,” The Dawn quoted Gilani, as saying.

The Prime Minister further referring to Pakistan’s role in the war on terror, pointed out that the country had suffered more casualties and deployed more forces to fight terrorism than the entire US-led NATO forces in Afghanistan.

“Pakistan has never claimed to be a super power, but is currently undertaking efforts against terrorism in its best capacity,” he added.

Cameron has provoked a diplomatic row with Pakistan, when he accused Islamabad of “exporting terrorism”.

“We should be very, very clear with Pakistan that we want to see a strong, stable and democratic Pakistan,” Cameron said during his visit to India.

“We cannot tolerate in any sense the idea that this country is allowed to look both ways and is able, in any way, to promote the export of terror, whether to India or to Afghanistan or anywhere else in the world,” he added.

This is not the first time that Britain has raised the threat of terrorism that emanates from Pakistan.

Former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown had once said that the bulk of the threat of terrorism to Britain came out of Pakistan’s restive tribal regions near the Afghan border. (ANI)
